HOW IT WORKS: These are online Zoom sessions. Students are encouraged to register for all sessions and take it as an in-depth mentoring course that includes home assignments, or take each session independently at their own pace.
Every class is conceived as a musical journey. Each week we’ll explore exercises and instruments that will accompany, revitalize, and embody both the somatic and the poetics of freeing the voice unconditionally. It only requires showing up regularly to begin cultivating familiarity and confidence.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: We’ll share an original repertoire of diverse vocal cultures that expand and refine voice/sound modalities ranging from the benefits of neuro-coherence stimulated by mantras to the healing magic of indigenous songs and the icaros, to feeling the ecstasies elicited by ragas and spirituals. We’ll experience together how music and the voice create boundless generative soundscapes that facilitate balance and clear the mind. Participants will have the opportunity to co-create with others, presenting recordings and/or sharing “live” music, and collaborating with a group of fellow travelers. Vocally, the focus will be on tone and range development while immersing in the matrix of melody emerging While the Gods Play.
We’ll explore the expressive and contemplative energy of the Voice; delving into acoustic subtleties and refined melodiousness through extended vocal techniques, songwriting, and beyond genres improvisation. The Voice becomes a Mirror of Moods, Characters, Images, Dreams, and students will have the option to create a Voice/Sound/Music Project that they would like to manifest.
About our innovative approach as an Experimental Voice Lab:
We’ll assist students to design mix-media projects that might include video and audio recordings. During the 7-week immersion, the group process will support creative inquiry, collaborations, practice, and the transpersonal self-healing potential of music-making.
Students are welcome to bring their voice/sound dream project or purpose and they will be assisted with information and the tools to realize it through related bibliography; listening diets; self-reflection journaling; customized practices, and individual sessions when time is available at a separate fee.
WHO WILL BENEFIT: This course is designed for both new and seasoned musicians, students, artists, yogis and yoginis, therapists, sound healers, and teachers, interested in developing a voice that feels like a revealed gift and expresses the deep spiritual longing of the artist within.
Schedule – Subject to slight changes according to the time zone of the majority of the students on board.
