Annual WORKSHOP at Open Center, NYC
w/ Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT
This class explores the use of music to clear and open energetic channels and as a gateway for therapeutic processes and community peacemaking. Through guided sound-centered contemplative practices and chanting, students gather an original repertoire of medicine melodies to use in shamanic, psychotherapeutic, and music healing sessions. Students experience the emotional magic that comes from singing the icaros of the Peruvian Amazon, and chants of indigenous traditions from India, Tibet, Brazil, and beyond. Special emphasis will be given to the spiritual healing work of John of God and other outstanding healers from Brazil, and how they implement music to transform consciousness and psychosomatic impediments. This cross-cultural and multimedia workshop is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in exploring self-healing and creativity, and adds a new dimension to the therapeutic repertoire of healthcare professionals.
