YES! I hope that this time you’ll open this newsletter, read it, and click on the links.  

Because I wish to thank you again and again to all of you that had pledged and sponsored my fundraising campaign towards creating a new ambient music album. Your support will make will make the music happen, and the music will become both a space to dwell and a gentle aural companion when you are working and focusing on a project, or when practicing yoga, creating or daydreaming.  

 

There is still few more hours to pledge and ex-press your support if you still didn’t.And, thank YOU to all who had pledged so graciously. 

YES! We’d made the initial GOAL and we still have very few hours before the KICKSTARTER campaign ends at 2PM (PT) on June 3rd. It’s now when we hope for last minute extra-funds to pay for the campaign expenses, the cost of he rewards, and the videos and art work.

 

Manifesting the initial funding goal inspires me to share my vision of music in the wisdom-words of John Coltrane, the supreme jazz musician of the 20th century.  

 

“When you begin to see the possibilities of music, you desire to do something really good for people, to help humanity free itself from its hang-ups. I think music can make the world better and, if I’m qualified, I want to do it. I’d like to point out to people the divine in a musical language that transcends words. I want to speak to their souls…I think the main thing a musician would like to do is give a picture to the listener of the many wonderful things he knows and senses in the universe. That’s what music is to me“. 

 

 I couldn’t ever found more clear words to express my devotional connection with music, because I feel the same way. Thank you, Marlee-I-Mystic, a recent graduate student at CIIS for reawaken us to the legacy of Coltrane and it’s vision of “cosmic music”.

WHAT IS ESPECIAL ABOUT THIS MUSIC…

  Dear Friends and Divine Community,

 

I am writing to you from Bahia, Brazil, where I feel home, inspired, and sweetly contained, and I am aware that is the right time – for me – to implement my lifelong dedication to music to explore the movement from longing to belong. Loneliness and longing sometimes are hard to distinguish. We all share a basic human need to belong,and the idea of belonging “feels” great!

 

So…after years of research on the affective quality of sound and music, I am inspired to create an album of ambient music that will not disturb our need for silence, and where the music becomes both a space to dwell and a gentle aural companion. I am layering instruments, voices, and soft pulses to induce concentration, and an at-ease state that I like to call ‘mindful listening bliss’. 

 

To bring to life this music – and for first time in my life – I launched a crowdfounding Kickstarter campaign. This means that I invite you to come on board and join me on this creation by PREORDERING the ALBUM,make your generous PLEDGE to support the journey, and you’ll get back many exciting REWARDS. When you read the rewards, you’ll see that this recording is truly intended as a community project. 

We want you to be an essential part of its creation.

   About the creative process:

Musically, I am singing ethereal melodies inspired by the mood intelligence of the Indian ragas, and the voice emerges out of textural layers of sound in dialogue with Todd Boston ‘s instrumental elegance, among other fantastic musicians that I met throughout my life as a world traveler. I think that this new album will be somehow a recapitulation of my musical life.

 

As spiritual practice, I am approaching the music of this album as dharma art. Dharma art is creative work that springs from an awakened meditative state and provides a vehicle to appreciate and express without any desire to achieve. This, I learned from the artist and supreme teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche; Genuine art-dharma art-is simply the activity of nonaggression.  

May this music and your ‘mindful listening bliss’ bring more
gentleness and unity to this world.
